Since its inception in 2011, The Sato Project has rescued over 7,150 dogs, rehabilitated them with the highest standards of veterinary care, and placed them in loving homes on the U.S. mainland. We address the underlying causes of overpopulation, abandonment, and abuse through community outreach and completely free-of-charge spay/neuter and vaccine programs. To date, we have spayed/neutered over 8,000 dogs and cats.

The Sato Project’s disaster relief efforts started with the devastation of Hurricane Maria in 2017 and continued through the earthquakes of 2020. After Hurricane Fiona in 2022, they have expanded to be a permanent part of our work.

Our disaster relief efforts include distributing humanitarian and animal emergency supplies, pulling dogs from overburdened municipal shelters with over 94% euthanasia rates, and reuniting families with their beloved pets via our No Dog Left Behind program.
